Old Glasses, New Sight: Touchstone Bali Supports a Community Eyewear Donation Initiative

Old Glasses, New Sight: Touchstone Bali Supports a Community Eyewear Donation Initiative

A small act of generosity can give an unused pair of glasses a new purpose. Through a community donation initiative with Yayasan Kesatria Keris Bali, Touchstone Bali is supporting efforts to collect pre-loved spectacles for people who need them, including communities in remote villages.

A Pair of Glasses Can Still Make a Difference

Take a moment to look through your drawers, bedside tables or old travel bags. You might find a pair of prescription glasses you no longer wear.

Perhaps your prescription has changed. Perhaps you bought a new frame, or the old pair simply became forgotten over time. But what is no longer useful to one person may still have value to someone else.

Touchstone Bali is supporting a community eyewear donation initiative in collaboration with Yayasan Kesatria Keris Bali, helping collect suitable pre-loved spectacles so they can be passed on to people who need them.

The idea is simple: give usable glasses another chance to make a difference.

Supporting Communities Through Local Collaboration

At Touchstone Bali, we believe that being part of Bali means more than living and working here. It also means finding practical ways to contribute to the communities around us.

Our collaboration with Yayasan Kesatria Keris Bali is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, connecting everyday acts of generosity with a community-led initiative.

The donated spectacles are intended to reach people who need them, including those living in remote villages where access to suitable eyewear may be more difficult. By encouraging people to donate glasses they no longer use, we hope to help make existing resources available to others while bringing more people into a shared effort to support the community.

How You Can Get Involved

You do not need to make a large donation to contribute. If you have a suitable pair of spectacles sitting unused at home, that may be a good place to start. You can help by:

  • Looking for prescription glasses you no longer need.
  • Checking that your donated glasses are clean and in suitable condition.
  • Bringing them to a participating collection point confirmed by the organisers.
  • Sharing the initiative with friends, neighbours, colleagues and local community groups.

Please donate only glasses that are suitable for reuse. The receiving organisation can advise on any additional requirements for accepted donations.

Community Collection Points in Sanur

The original community appeal listed these drop-off locations:

  • Gardenia Cafe – Jalan Mertasari No. 2
  • Warung Rakarai – Jalan Pantai Sindhu No. 4
  • Over the Moon Cafe – Jalan Danau Tamblingan No. 19

Please confirm with the organisers that a location is still accepting donations, and check its opening hours, before you visit.

Could Your Business Become a Collection Point?

Local businesses can play an important role in making community initiatives more accessible. If you operate a café, restaurant, shop, coworking space or another suitable business in Bali, consider supporting the initiative by hosting a collection point. A convenient drop-off location can make it easier for residents, visitors and business communities to participate.

Businesses interested in becoming collection points can contact Touchstone Bali for further information and coordination with the initiative's organisers.

Small Contributions, Shared Responsibility

Community impact does not always begin with a large project. Sometimes, it starts with something we already have and a decision to put it to better use.

An unused pair of glasses may be easy to forget. With the right collection and distribution process, it may have an opportunity to serve someone else.

Old glasses. New sight. A community effort worth sharing.
